The second deflationary revolution of Bitcoin is quietly unfolding!
The first deflationary revolution was the competition for computing power, which made time scarce through proof of work (PoW). The second deflationary revolution, however, comes from the competition for capital efficiency, making liquidity scarce again through financial structures.
Lombard allows Bitcoin to enter a passive deflationary state without changing monetary policy. When BTC is staked, re-staked, and participates in collateral lending or insurance pools, the actual amount of BTC that can circulate and be traded in the market decreases. It's like central banks locking liquidity, but this time it's done by the market.
In this process, LBTC is not a new coin, but a new form of Bitcoin:
It gives the originally static store of value asset financial vitality while still adhering to Bitcoin's logic of transparency and scarcity.
If halving represents miner-led scarcity, then Lombard represents finance-led scarcity. It makes capital efficiency a new scarce resource and gives Bitcoin its own monetary multiplier.
In this sense, Lombard is not changing Bitcoin but reconstructing it through continuation. Scarcity no longer relies on time itself but on the trust and capital structure that accumulates over time.
