Lighter points dropped yesterday… and farming them actively taught me a few things I wanna share.
First off, volume doesn’t matter. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
Millions in fake wash trading mean nothing. What matters is what and how you trade.
If you’re farming BTC, ETH, HYPE, SOL, BNB… good luck. Whales with 7–8 figure size eat all the points there. For retail, you’ll end up with scraps.
What’s been working better for me are low OI, less volatile pairs that still have liquidity like: $PROVE, $ZK, $ZORA, $DOT, $ETHFI, $POPCAT
With these i have seen that slippage is manageable even on $10K+ margin.
Avoid extreme low OI coins though (like $YZY) I’ve tried, and price impact is brutal when closing. ( you can still trade it but be careful from the price impact at the time of closing position )
Next thing: Sharpe ratio.
Many underestimate it, but it matters. Keep it genuine.
Around 1 - 3 = breakeven trader, won’t earn much. Either profit cleanly or lose cleanly (preferably not the latter).
Above 3 or below -3 shows you’re a “real” trader to the algo and not someone who is solely trading to farm points..
And this one’s important:
Never open at market. Always place bids. Any perp dex would want the orderbook liquid, and their system rewards you for providing that.
That’s true across every perp DEX, not just @Lighter_xyz
So TL;DR:
- Trade low OI coins
- Focus on Sharpe ratio, not blind volume.
- Always place bids, don’t chase at market.
Perp DEX farming has gotten tough after the $ASTER rally millions competing for the same points pool
If you’re not farming with an actual edge, you’re basically donating.
And lastly, trade safe, don’t burn yourself too much to farm these points.
maybe you can hedge your positions across different DEX’s if you are not so good at trading but want to still farm the points.. this way you farm risk free
