DePIN is an emerging sector with substantial growth potential, especially in the last year.
While early movers like @helium, @akashnet, @ArweaveEco laid the foundation, the real monetization shift began only recently.
According to the World Economic Forum, the DePIN sector is projected to reach a valuation of $3.5 trillion by 2028 representing nearly 90 times the expected market size in 2025. This growth trend is set to continue, with 2025 showing stronger expansion despite some volatility, particularly in mid-2024.
While these decentralized networks are growing, there remain some regional gaps in network density, especially across Africa and parts of Latin America, which can affect latency and SLA guarantees for global portfolios. Enterprises will also need to consider compliance issues, such as data residency, GDPR/CCPA rules, and export controls for advanced GPUs, especially as regulatory frameworks like the EU AI Act come into play.
This is where @Argentum_AI stands out. As an early-stage player, Argentum AI is strategically positioning itself to address these gaps in the DePIN landscape. The project focuses on the reuse of second-generation GPUs, creating a new revenue stream for institutions with older hardware, while simultaneously improving security and regional diversification, two key concerns for enterprises.
Argentumâs AI-augmented marketplace design, which includes real-time benchmarking, addresses the static pricing model seen in other networks and aligns better with institutional requirements.
If Argentum AI successfully implements its roadmap, particularly with the launch of a public dashboard of performance metrics and the onboarding of institutional GPU providers, it has the potential to become a critical player in the DePIN space.
The DePIN sector's growth is real, but it remains concentrated among a few key players. As we move into 2025, the next challenge for decentralized compute providers will be to build the necessary infrastructure such as public SLA dashboards and attestation coverage to gain the trust of institutional users.
