The famous trader known as Gigantic-Cassocked-Rebirth, or simply GCR, made a huge impact in the crypto world, especially on the FTX platform.
His remarkable ability for accurate predictions and impressive track record enabled him to turn $1,000 into hundreds of millions of dollars.
GCR firmly believes in an intense work ethic, urging his followers to commit over 120 hours a week to trading.
He even admits to not taking a single break for almost 3.5 years. While his dedication is inspiring, is such an extreme pace truly realistic or healthy for long-term success?
In 2021, GCR was a vocal supporter of investing in memecoins, despite their high risks. He even shared an earlier prediction: "If you invest about 20 ETH in SHIB and wait 5 months until the peak of the bull market, you'll have 40 million."
By May 2021, however, it turned out that to make this profit, the trader only needed to invest just 2 ETH in SHIB to earn over $40,000,000.
By October 2021, he began placing large bets on Trump’s victory in the 2024 election.
His position was so substantial that accessing sufficient liquidity on exchanges became impossible.
As a result, he turned to direct OTC deals with Alameda Research.
Just over a year later, a leaked Alameda Research balance sheet revealed they were still holding $7,300,000 in unhedged TRUMPLOSE tokens, likely from the deal with GCR.
On July 22, following the assassination attempt on Trump and Biden’s withdrawal from the election, he declared that Kamala Harris was the clear choice.
He then disclosed his position on her on Polymarket.

GCR: Kamala was an obvious bet—Biden always faltered after the debates.
GCR made headlines in the crypto community when he challenged Do Kwon, the founder of LUNA, to a $10 million bet.
GCR wagered that LUNA's price would be lower a year later, and Do Kwon accepted, turning it into one of the largest bets in crypto history.
GCR sought a bigger bet, so he increased his position by using FTX derivatives, shorting $10 million worth of LUNA through perpetual futures.
Just two months later, on May 7th, GCR disclosed that this position had already earned a profit of $2.3 million.
By May 2022, over $10 billion in UST was locked in the LUNA ecosystem, a significant increase from $1 billion in 2021.
Ultimately, the price of $LUNA collapsed to nearly zero.
GCR managed to fully cover his $LUNA risk for just $0.72, effectively hedging his entire $20 million short position for less than a dollar.
GCR made a bold prediction in his final tweet of 2023: "Money printing won't stop.
